September is International Suicide Awareness Month.

  • Sept 10 - Lifeline "Out of the Shadows" Walk - Coffs Harbour

R U OK?Day 2023 is Thursday 14 September and is our national day of action when we remind Australians that every day is the day to ask, ‘are you OK?’ and start a meaningful conversation whenever they spot the signs that someone they care about might be struggling with life.

R U OK?

Many people do not have someone to talk to who:

  • Listens to understand

  • Has the capacity to sit in your discomfort with you

  • Will not judge

  • Will not tell you what you should do

  • Will support you to find the appropriate support for you

COME ALONG, for as little or as long as you like

  • Have a chat

  • Have a cuppa

  • Maybe do some mindfulness practices

  • Learn some self-calming tools

  • Make new friends, have some fun and laughter

WHO AM I?

I know that what you are experiencing is different to my experiences. However, they all have something in common.

Life can be hard and sometimes feels like the challenges will never get easier, or end.

The truth is, that challenges will always be there. That's how we grow. And they will pass when we take a new action.

You can learn to build your skills and resilience, so you are better equipt to manage them. Every challenge is an opportunity for growth.

The first step is talking with someone who will listen. Then it is up to you to make a decision to take action. You have to show up everyday for yourself, regardless of what support is or isn't around you.

"You alone must do it, but you cannot do it alone."

A bit about me

Growing up feeling like no one was there to listen, I shut down. I ended up with a drug addiction to numb my lack of self-worth and sence of not belonging and spent 12months in a residential rehab.

I then worked for the rehab, as well as in Youth Centres and Crisis Refuges in Drug & Alcohol Prevention and Lifeskills programs.

Later I trained as a Life Coach and I am now internationally recognised as a Professional Certified Coach. I am also trained as an Holistic Counsellor, Creative Healer and Lifeline Crisis Supporter.

My passion is to educate and support as many people as possible to understand and address stress, so they can live a longer life of fun, freedom and fullfilment.

I have lived experiences including:

  • Many, many other different jobs including, but not limited to, nursing and aged care, hosptiatility and events, sales, film industry and Dept of Education.

  • Marriage, abusive relationships, divorce, single parenting

  • Recovery from potentially life threatening cervical cancer scare and Hep C

  • Caring for family with Dementia, Alzheimers, Parkinsons Disease, Functional Neuorlogical Disorder (FND) and other Mental Health concerns

I am by no means a Medical Practitioner, but because of my lived experiences and professional training, I am a great listener and very resourceful.

During September, on Mondays, come to the Beachouse Cafe, Beach St, Woolgoolga, have a cuppa and a chat.
