Open Knowledge meets Research Bazaar and Public Lab
Details
How it works:
The building goes on to security at 6 p.m. If you arrive before 6, come on up to level 23. Between 6 and 6:15, there will be someone to work the doors and lift. If you're later, you'll need to phone and we'll let you in.
There will be some snacks provided; we try to make sure that we cover vegan and gluten free. If you have specific needs, or feel like bringing something to share, please bring some food.
What's on:
We'll be being joined by some of the team from the Research Bazaar to talk about community building and open science.
We'll also be joined by some people interested in creating a local Public Lab chapter in Melbourne (http://pad.publiclab.org/p/auslaunch). As I (mattcen) understand it, there will be open hardware involved, likely including Arduinos and Raspberry Pis to play with!
Otherwise:
Shut up and Hack!
Shut Up and Hack is a self-directed activity evening on a range of open projects. Please bring your device and be prepared to work on a project of your choice. People will be working on a range of "Open" projects such as:
Wikipedia or another wiki
Open Streetmap
A project from GovHack, HealthHack or another hackathon that you'd like to keep working on
