Over the last three years we have put on at least sixty different weekday tours across the whole of Bristol. We really know this city! To get 2026 off to a good start we will be revisiting some of our favourites. There will be lots of new research to enjoy.

On these Discover Bristol sessions Steve shares his extensive research on the history, geography, wildlife and geology of the city. There is also plenty of time to chat about interesting finds that we discover along the way.

On our tour of Cumberland Basin will get an overview of just how the Floating Harbour and the New Cut work together to make Bristol unique amongst world ports. We will hear about the Bristol Museums Archive stored in those huge redbrick bonded warehouses and the latest on the recent robbery. We will cross the basin to hear about life in the Georgian spa resort of Hotwells. We will discover who lived in Dowry Square and who visited to pursue their drug habit.

As is our custom a copy of Steve's extensive research notes will be sent out to participants after the event.

We take coffee at the end of our Discover Bristol walks. This time we will visit the Create Centre Cafe.

This is a great opportunity for a bit of leg stretching and some tongue wagging along the way. Exercise, socialising and learning are three out of the five steps to mental wellbeing.

A Walk in the Past is a friendly group where regulars and newcomers are always welcome. Our aim is to combine a good walk with pleasant company in historic landscapes.
