DESCRIPTION
We commence our hike in the village of Horsley, heading towards West Horsley Place a Grade 1 listed building dating back to the 15th Century. The house was the location for BBC sitcom 'Ghosts' where it is known as 'Button House'.
We then head into the forests where we shall see several of the Lovelace bridges, constructed from local flint and brick in the 1860s by Lord Lovelace to transport materials and facilitate horse riding through the woods.
We continue through the forest to Hackhurst Downs a biological site of special scientific interest, it provides a high area of open grassland on the North Downs with an abundance of chalk grassland flora and fauna and marvellous views of the high Weald
Our hike continues through the National Trust site at Netley Park, following which we shall head to the village of West Clandon where we have a couple of choices of cosy pubs for a drink before heading to the railway station.
