The Happy Valley Reservoir reserve is a major recreational space comprising 600-hectare natural refuge, and is home to native wildlife, land and water birds, freshwater fish, insect and plant life. It is open to walking, cycling, kayaking and fishing.
Join me on this splendid walk along the eastern trails starting at the recreational area in the south, which will take us through varied landscapes including wooded trails on the north and east. Although longish, this is a medium-easy level hike which caters to all fitness levels.
Meet at the carpark at the main entrance on Chandlers Hill Rd (see pin drop). Meet at 8.50 am for introductions, and be ready for departure at 9 am sharp. Good hiking shoes, water, sunscreen, and hat a must!
You may bring a snack or sandwich to have part-way at the picnic area. A coffee van is also available onsite near the carpark with hot and cold drinks on offer.
