Distance: 12.5km
Duration: 3hrs 45min
Elevation gain: 780m
Level: grade 4 moderate

This is a magnificent section of the famous Yurrebilla trail which ranges from narrow single-file paths to fire tracks, and meanders through shaded forests as well as open meadows thriving with wild flowers. Intermittent open views can be had over the Adelaide plains, and a chance to spot few sleepy koalas. We will be climbing two hills of equal size; first comes Black Hill, then the Morialta behemoth, each of approx. 375m ascent. We will end the hike at the Morialta picnic grounds.

This is going to be a one-way hike (yes 12km is enough for most of us). We will meet at the finish point and do a ride-share to get us to the starting point in Athelstone.
Pack a light snack to have at mid-point when we break for 10min.
Good hiking shoes and poles are recommended. Plenty of water and raingear are a must!

This is a level-4 hike of moderate difficulty. You must be reasonably fit and experienced in climbing steep terrain in order to participate.

Meet at Morialta Lower Carpark on Stradbroke Road by the picnic area (see drop-pin).
Meet at 8.20am for an 8.30 departure.
