London in the Loop: A City Talks AI
AI is reshaping our world in unprecedented ways — and it demands unprecedented conversations.
London in the Loop is not another AI talk. It’s an open, honest dialogue under Chatham House Rules, bringing together leaders, experts, and citizens to explore the realities of AI and the deeply human questions we all share: What are our hopes? What are our fears? And if you could send one message to those building AI, what would it be?
This conversation also marks the launch of a city-wide survey that will feed directly into the closing keynote at AI for the Rest of Us 2025 — ensuring London’s voice is heard on the main stage.
Everyone is welcome — whether you bring professional expertise, lived experience, or simple curiosity.
👉 Join us and help keep London in the Loop.

The Talk: AI Beyond the Chatbot (Thomas Essl, Founder at Mustard Navy)
AI chatbots that we interact with through simple ‘prompting’ have taken us far — but they’re now holding us back. To unlock the full potential of this wave of AI, our ways of interacting with it need to evolve. In this talk, aimed at both AI users and builders, Thomas explores why the design of AI experiences matters, how they must change, and what we should really be using AI for in the first place.
Mustard Navy is the UK’s first design agency dedicated to AI products, helping innovators turn their vision and technology into AI products customers embrace and remember.
Before founding Mustard Navy, Thomas led design teams and shaped award-winning products at QuantumBlack (McKinsey), Google, and agencies including Foolproof and Publicis Poke. His writing on user-centered product development, data, and AI has reached over a million readers.
