Storm King Stumble
Details
Storm King Mountain looms above the Hudson River like a gothic fortress, dominating the rugged river gorge to the west. Its glowering eastern end rises sheer from the river to more than 1,300 feet and is the prominent feature of Storm King State Park.
We will commence our adventure upon the Howell trail rapidly gaining elevation to a succinct constellation of seven summit views (not to be confused with THE seven summits). Up to North Point we'll go before plunging down the col and back up to meet the Bluebird trail (think Sir Paul McCartney- yeah he wrote about black and blue birds.) Then we'll join the Stillman trail for 14 viewpoints (vastly more than the politicians of any feather) and work our way back to our steel horses.
This hike will all be at a more chilled pace than usual: (2 MPH)
8.7 miles, 2749 elevation gain.
Bring appropriate food, water, gear as you require.
Sign up- it's going to be a gorgeous day!
