What weāre about
A.L.F is a small social and activity group primarily for people in Aldercar, Langley Mill and surrounding areas. Our aim? To improve life locally a little bit at a time. We're not therapy but we're a good second option. š
Feeling down, stressed, isolated, ill or recuperating? You are not on your own. Get to know other local people with regular cheap, often free, easy to attend shorter activities in small friendly groups of four to twelve people. We have larger meetings as and when you feel you can attend plus smaller group, well organised holidays or short breaks if you haven't been away for a while.
We aim to be as inclusive as possible including car shares where appropriate. We will endeavour to help you progress your social life locally with a variety events and social occasions all whilst supporting some of our local businesses. You will get out and about, happier, socialising and talking, if only about the rotten weather!
NB. As a volunteer group, we make every effort to ensure you are looked after, safe and welcomed. We endeavour to provide you with information on specific activity requirements i.e. footwear, timings, stops etc where necessary and as best we can in order to support your attendance. Participation in activities is done under your own liability.
A cover photo is appreciated. Accounts inactive for 12 months are deleted.
Note to organisers: Events at ALF are group aim specific, as such we have a smaller window of what we can do and take much planning and research, whilst imitation is the best form of flattery, copying, cutting and pasting is not. Should you wish to copy or 'bounce off' an Aldercar & Langley Event, please have the courtesy to message us first.

UPDATED-Winter Gardens & Millennium Gallery, Sheffield - Train at Langley Mill
Train Station, Station Road, Langley Mill, GBMeeting at Langley Mill train station at 10.30, the 10.36 train, taking around 35 minutes, I booked the 17:06 train back!!!! Gives us a good four or so hours to explore the gardens and gallery at your own pace before meeting in one of the cafes for refreshments. For those who may want to sample the early evening there are a couple of later trains every hour or so.
Sheffield city centre has spent the last 20+ years having a revamp from the old city of steel to a rather pleasant space with emphasis on pedestrians, cycles and..... well.... culture!
The Winter Gardens, Millennium Gallery & Square I found to be well worth a visit and can be accomplished easily in an afternoon. They are just an 8 or 9 minute very pleasant walk from the train station and consist of the galleries, winter gardens, cafes and gift shop. Outside in Millennium square there are several eatery chains and a couple of pubs. They are all free entry, but a donation of £5 is suggested at the galleries entrance which is just inside the Winter Garden. Not overly large, they are easily accessible and very walkable.
The Gallery is currently home to a Ruskin (local Victorian artist and writer) exhibition until 30th November as well as a couple of other smaller exhibits displaying the city's industrial and steel heritage.
So there you have it, fancy a little culture while exploring a little bit of one of our near neighbouring cities? Join us for an afternoon of reasonably intelligent company and culture and cheer yourselves on this dreary November Sunday. š
