How to Pass Scenario-Based Analytics Interviews
Details
### Overview
Technical interviews in analytics are changing.
Live coding and trivia-style questions are slowly being replaced by scenario-based technical problems - where interviewers care less about syntax and more about how you think, clarify ambiguity, and structure solutions, especially in a world where AI tools exist.
This session breaks down:
- Why this shift is happening
- What interviewers are actually evaluating
- How strong candidates approach scenario-based technical questions in real time
This is not a coding workshop.
It’s a thinking workshop.

### What We’ll Cover
In this session, we’ll walk through:
- Why scenario-based technical interviews are becoming the norm
- What interviewers are listening for (even when you don’t reach a perfect solution)
- How to:
- Ask high-value clarifying questions
- Think out loud without rambling
- Break vague problems into incremental, concrete steps
- Communicate trade-offs and assumptions clearly
- Common mistakes candidates make when answering scenario questions
We’ll also work through example scenarios and dissect what a strong response actually sounds like.
