Chapter Meeting - The African-American Experience on the FNST
Details
You are invited to join our chapter meeting focused on the African-American experience on the FNST (Florida National Scenic Trail) with two presenters: Imani Klein and Morpheus Moor.
Imani Klein is the head of "Girls Who Hike FL," a popular hiking group found on Facebook. She has always been connected to nature from a young age growing up in the Hudson Valley area of New York. Moving to Florida showed her a different landscape. Living in a rural area of Florida made Imani explore solo for many years before getting involved in Girls Who Hike FL and the Florida Trail Association.
Morpheus Moor was born Tyler Chubb. Covid happened and the world changed. He decided to change with it by starting long-distance hiking where he earned the trail name Morpheus. "My main goal of being outside is to simply be seen. So, in conversation, when the question is asked, do you know any bruhs that go and do things like this? I can honestly and openly tell them… MORPHEUS IS OUT THERE! ... That is sometimes the hardest part of being outside as a HOC (Hiker Of Color)."
We open our Chapter meetings with a Social, featuring member-provided refreshments, at 6:30 pm. At 7:00pm the meeting begins, we adjourn at 8:00pm.
If you are a college student, feel free to organize a carpool (from campus) under the comments section.
