Cost – $125 per person. Must RSVP before May 8th via the Silent Wake webpage.
Join us as we do a couple of awesome experiences in one weekend. We will be tent camping at Waubedonia Park on both Friday and Saturday nights, and paddling on both Saturday and Sunday on the Milwaukee river. These segments of the river have woodlands, farm fields, small homesteads, scattered small islands, and wildlife along the way. There are a few riffles in some spots to liven up the gentile flow of the current. This is normally a very quiet segment of the Milwaukee river and perfect for one to bond with nature. There is no motor boat traffic on this stretch.
Skills needed for this trip – previous kayaking required for this trip because of the total distance.
Items required – Tent/sleeping pad/sleeping bag/camp chair. Appropriate paddle clothing for the water and air temps/rain gear. Snacks/food/water you wish to consume beyond the meals we will provide. You may bring your own kayak/pfd/paddle or reserve this gear with us upon registration. If bringing your own kayak, please note this is not a fiberglass friendly river. This is an alcohol free trip.
Total milage paddled – 25 miles
Limited spaces available – maximum participants of 8. Detailed trip information will be provided upon registration. If water conditions are unsafe for this trip (current too fast/too high) – payments will be fully refunded.

Join us for a 13.8 mile paddle on the Kickapoo River from Ontario (Bridge 1) to Rockton (Landing 12). The Kickapoo is a beautiful entrenched dendretic river system, with numerous rock faces and ledges against which the river turns and flows. The Kickapoo may also be the oldest river in the world outside of Antarctica.
If you are camping with us at Wildcat Mountain State Park and want to follow us to the put in, we will leave the campsite at 9:00am sharp. We will be reverse shuttling, so you just need to be unloaded and ready to paddle by 10am. We'll have the safety briefing at that time and start launching boats.
Plan on about 5 total hours (at most) on the river with a stop at the Wildcat Landing to eat our packed lunches.
This trip is not ideal for true beginners, but novices are welcome since it is a perfect river on which to hone one's boat handling skills.Call Drifty's at 608-337-4288 to reserve a canoe or kayak if you need to rent one. Also, if you have a spare boat to lend/rent or would like to borrow a boat, post that in the comments below.
After the paddle, we'll hit the Rockton Bar for dinner.
