Calling all literary fiction lovers in Austin for a special Black History Month event!

We will be discussing the short story Recitatif by Toni Morrison over food and drinks on February 20 at Pourhouse Pints and Pies 118356 Jollyville Rd. 78759.

We all are expected to buy food and drinks at this place with 25% gratuity to support our host venue. There will be separate checks.
Menu is linked here.

For those seeking to understand the deeper historical and symbolic context of this story, we also recommend an accompanying essay: The Genius of Toni Morrison’s Only Short Story by Zadie Smith.

Both the short story and the essay can be found linked below.

Those unable to access the links above may also find the reading available in PDF form at our Discord Server. We'd also love to have you join the Discord just to chat with us generally! Our group has some fairly rousing discussions in there about books.

We hope to see you soon for this special Black History Month event!
