This walk is a continuation of my aim to do all the walks from Sutherland to Wollongong.
It’s in Heathcote National Park, on the western side of the Princess Highway (not the Royal National Park side). There are some terrific hiking trails and some lovely swimming holes to visit.
We will start at Waterfall Train Station at 10.15am. Meet at the Passenger Drop Off Area (turn left when you get to top of the ramp as you exit the train station if you are directionally challenged).
A train leaves Central at 9.12am (from Platform 25) and arrives at Waterfall at 10.08am. Please check your transport app closer to the day.
From here we will pick up a trail that will leads us past Lake Toolooma to the Bullawaring Track.
We will stop at Kingfisher Pool, a lovely spot with very few hikers.
From here we will head to Mount Westcott for a lovely view of the bush from the western side of the highway before travelling through the Garawarra State Conservation Area on our way to Helensburgh, where we will go into the Glow Worm Caves near the station. Bring a torch!
We will aim to finish at Helensburgh Train Station by 3.30pm, maybe even earlier, before catching a train back to the city.
There are no exit points.
