Talk: Why JavaScript's Missing Full-Stack Adoption at the Largest Companies in the World

Abstract:
While JavaScript dominates the frontend, its adoption in full-stack environments at major SaaS companies faces real hurdles: limited open-source tooling for backend tasks like background jobs, deployment challenges on modern platforms, a shallow standard library, and testing limitations. However, this landscape is rapidly evolving. New runtimes like Bun are introducing sensible defaults and addressing core pain points, while the community is actively building solutions.
This talk will explore where JavaScript falls short today, where meaningful improvements are being made, and where the biggest opportunities for growth remain.
