What we’re about
This group is specifically designed for women in their 30’s and 40’s who are hoping to make new friends. If you’re like me, you might find that this has become much more difficult the older you’ve become. Which is why I’ve created this group. My hope is that we can create friendships that will form a true community.
The group is based in Beaverton but events will be in Portland and surrounding neighborhoods as well. Events will vary from grabbing coffee to hikes (once the weather is nicer) to maybe going to a museum. I am very open to ideas on events so please feel free to shoot me a message!
I will be pretty strict about no-shows. This has been a problem in all of the Meetup groups I’ve been a part of in the past and I think it’s unnecessary. I will allow 3 no-shows but then I will remove you from the group. I feel it is disrespectful to the others to make everyone wait for someone who wasn’t planning to show up. So please, if something comes up and your plans change - just RSVP “no” or send me a message. It’s totally understandable, even last minute changes are quite okay. Just don’t no-show, that is all I ask. :)

Meet at Sunset Transit Center at 8:00am. Bring snacks, water, sunscreen, bug spray, extra layers/warmth, rain jacket, etc. People may choose to carpool or drive solo to the trailhead. If you do choose to drive solo, please comment below so that the hosts know ahead of time.
- **Important: To get to this trailhead there is a long dirt road with many potholes requires AWD or 4WD vehicles, and 2WD is not recommended), drive 1 hr. 30min ($3 toll at Bridge of the Gods each way, or take the slighty longer but free Vancouver route) to get to Falls Creek Falls Trailhead around 9:30am.
- There is no or limited cell service where we are going, so it's a good idea to have printed directions just in case your phone cuts out.
Falls Creek Falls Hike: We should be starting the hike around 9:45am. This is about a 2 hr. hike, it’s easy-moderate, 3.4-mile, out-and-back hike along beautiful Falls Creek leads to one of southern Washington’s highest waterfalls, 200-foot (total) Falls Creek Falls. The hike gains ~800 feet in elevation.
The group will decide after the first hike if we will do this optional add on hike, or forgo it and we will go straight to food: Panther Creek Falls. This is one of the most impressive and complex waterfalls in and around the Gorge. The hike is less than 0.4 mile, but moderate-hard because of the steepness, but is well worth it! With 200 feet of elevation gain, it makes a good complement to a hike at nearby Falls Creek Falls.
For food, we will go to Backwoods Brewing in Carson, WA. Afterwards, we will head back to PDX and anticipate being back around 3pm (4pm at the latest, with added optional hike).
