Free Safe City Cycling Skills class- Run by Newcastle Council

Newcastle Council is holding a free Safe City Cycling class.
I am not involved in running this event.
I am just spreading the word about these great classes. Hopefully these they will be run again, particularly if there is a lot of interest in them.
Date: Saturday, 7 June, 2025
Time: 2pm-5pm
Where: Kentish Oval Netball Courts, Lambton (end of Tyrone Road)
Registration is essential. Limited spots.

- If it's booked out, I encourage you to fill out the contact details form on the website, so that Council knows people are interested, and they will contact you about any future courses.
- This is one of four different cycling classes running every weekend in June: safe city cycling, basic bike maintenance, advanced bike maintenance, and Cycling Essentials (how to ride a bike for beginners & rusty riders).

Here is the Council's description for the event:
This on-road class is ideal for riders with basic cycling skills who want to navigate city streets, shared paths and bike networks with greater ease. Led by experienced trainers, you’ll ride on local bike paths and quiet streets while learning how to:
- Plan your route and check your bike before riding
- Position yourself safely on the road and at intersections
- Ride defensively and with confidence in traffic
- Understand the road rules for bikes and shared paths
- Ride considerately in a group or community setting.
This course is only for participants over the age of 16.
What to bring?
Your bike (street-legal e-bikes are welcome), helmet and suitable riding clothes.
