Join us for an easy, guided bike ride to the Carrington Farmers' Market at MOA & Co.

✨ Great for most skill and fitness levels. We go a slow, leisurely pace of 15km/hr.

New people very welcome! Come along to meet others, learn quiet cycling routes, build cycling confidence, and enjoy the outdoors! :)

Start Points (read on for full details/exact locations):

  • 9am at Lambton Park (15km return)
  • 9:10am at Hunter Stadium, Broadmeadow (11km return)
  • 9:25am at Islington Park (5km return).

.
Our route: follows the R5 cycleway, from Lambton Park to Hamilton North, which is mostly on shared paths through parkland, before joining the Throsby Creek shared path at Islington Park, which takes us to Carrington.
.
Cycling fitness level: VERY EASY/easy/medium/hard/very hard

Topgraphy: flat

Infrastructure: 80% shared paths, 20% quiet streets, plus 400m of a busy high-speed road (Clyde St - we approach this road with care; ride on the footpath if you like)

.
What we'll do: Cycle to the markets. Perouse the markets, grab a coffee, a toastie, or something from the bakery stall. Then you can cycle back with me the same way we came, or feel free to head off and do your own thing.

.
What is the Carrington Farmers' Market?
Held indoors at a warehouse called MOA & Co, this is a small but lively weekly market. There is also a bakery, and coffee van. The market sells produce from a local farm in Glen William. The farm is called MOA Providores.

.
✨ Discover Newcastle's growing cycle network, made up of shared paths, quiet streets, & separated cycleways.

✨ There is a safety briefing at the start, explaining how we ride together.

✨ Practice & observe how to signal, where to position yourself in the road, how to use traffic lights and make turns, get more comfortable navigating traffic.

✨ I lead the ride, keeping a close eye on how everyone is doing, making sure we stick together. Someone volunteers to be the sweep at the back.
