Commonwealth Lake Beginners Birding!!
Details
This little gem has surprisingly good birding, while situated in a neighborhood not far off of Highway 26. The trail is 0.8 miles flat, paved and wheel chair accessible. There are plenty of ducks, almost always Great Blue Heron and if lucky, less common finds such as Virginia Rail. A great place for beginners since the wildlife is habituated to humans and indeed have the right of way on the trail! We'll meet at the T-intersection of SW Huntington Ave & SW Lanewood St. After our scheduled meet, there will be an optional extension into Foothills Park across the street, where we can expect more songbirds.
