Join us for a unique cultural experience and learn the traditional Japanese art of Sashiko mending.

Sashiko is a beautiful hand-stitching technique that was originally developed to repair and strengthen fabric. Today, it is appreciated around the world as both a practical skill and a form of textile art.

In this workshop, local elderly ladies from the Kyoto community will share their knowledge and teach participants how to repair and decorate their own fabric items.

This event is perfect for beginners, travelers, makers, and anyone interested in Japanese culture and sustainable living.

### What You’ll Learn

### Please Bring

A fabric item you would like to repair or decorate:

• T-shirts
• Shirts
• Tote bags

Lightweight to medium-weight natural fabrics are recommended.

# 京都の暮らしに触れる「刺し子リペアワークショップ」

京都のまちで長年暮らしてきた地域のお母さんたちと一緒に、日本の伝統的な補修技法「刺し子（Sashiko）」を学びませんか？
刺し子は、布を長く大切に使うために生まれた日本の生活文化です。穴が開いたり傷んだりした衣類や布製品を、美しく補修しながら新たな魅力を加えていきます。
このワークショップでは、地域のお母さんたちから直接教わりながら、自分だけのオリジナルリペア作品を作ることができます。
縫い物初心者の方や外国人の方も大歓迎です。

### 内容

• 刺し子の基本技法を学ぶ
• 衣類や布製品の補修・装飾
• 地域のお母さんたちとの交流
• 日本の暮らしの知恵や文化を体験

### 持ち物

補修または装飾したい布製品
（Tシャツ・シャツ・バッグ・エコバッグなど）
※薄手〜中厚手の天然素材がおすすめです。
※補修・装飾部分が100cm²程度までが目安です。
