Emptiness is often misunderstood as a void or nothingness, yet its deep understanding unlocks the very ground of our existence. Rather than negating reality, emptiness reveals the dynamic, interdependent nature that allows all phenomena to arise and play. This insight, first elucidated by the Buddha, is accessible through our own reasoning and direct experience—no faith required and aligns strikingly well with modern physics

  • 2pm -This interactive presentation will explore emptiness through visuals, guided inquiry, and practical analogies that illuminate how this understanding dismantles the foundations of our delusions and the roots of suffering. We will begin with a short preliminary meditation to settle the mind.
  • 4pm {Optional} - Drink and bite to eat at nearby Mary Maes cafe after the library meetup.

The session will be presented by Alan Carter, who has practiced, studied, and undertaken many retreats over a period of 32 years, and has been teaching applied Buddhist philosophy for the past 20 years. Participants are encouraged to bring something for note‑taking; tables will be provided to make this easy.
