What we’re about

This meetup is set up for language learners, interested in practising either their Spanish or their English (or both), while socialising and having a good time by chatting with like-minded people. At the events there are no hard rules, but participants are encouraged to switch regularly between English and Spanish so everyone has a chance to practise.

Spanish/English Language Exchange & Social - Batida

Join us for our next Spanish/English Language Exchange Meetup at the vibrant Batida on Whiteladies Road.

We welcome all levels—from absolute beginners to fluent speakers—in both Spanish and English. Don't worry about your level or making mistakes. This is a relaxed and friendly environment. We're all here to practice, learn from one another, and build our confidence in speaking Spanish. However, this time, the focus of the meetup is much more on socialising.

We'll be meeting at Batida, a fantastic Latin American restaurant known for its lively and vibrant atmosphere. The great location and energetic Latin vibes make it the ideal spot for a language exchange.

We have the entire private function room with its own bar reserved just for our group.

Come and practice Spanish/English in a friendly atmosphere at The Canteen. This event is for speakers of both languages of any level, everyone is welcome.

We'll be at the space in the corner to the right as you come in. Both drinks and food are available to buy, with a 10% discount!! Just say you are with the meetup when ordering at the bar.

Hola! Come and practice Spanish and/or English in a friendly atmosphere in the Watershed.

Don't worry about your level or making mistakes. This is a relaxed and friendly environment. We're all here to practice, learn from one another, and build our confidence in speaking Spanish.

Watershed opening time is 10 am, so the Meetup will start at 10:10 am (so that the staff can prepare table for the Meetup). Sometimes you can find us on the terrace just opposite our usual reserved space.

¡Bienvenidos al quinto encuentro del club de lectura en español!
El libro sobre el que vamos a hablar es Sin noticias de Gurb, de Eduardo Mendoza. Es una novela muy divertida sobre las aventuras de un extraterrestre en Barcelona!
Esta vez nos reuniremos en The Architect, un café en el centro de Bristol.
Las dos únicas normas para asistir son:

  Hello!
  Welcome to the fifth meeting of the Spanish book club.
  We are going to talk about Sin noticias de Gurb (No word from Gurb) from the author Eduardo Mendoza. It is an amusing novel about the adventures of an alien in Barcelona. We will meet in the café The Architect.
  Little reminder of the rules:
  -It is highly recommended to have read the whole book before you attend the meeting, so you can take part in our discussion.
  -An intermediate/advanced level of Spanish is a requirement. The goal of the book club is to be able to discuss literary topics and enjoy them, not only to practise a language.
  -I will update some topics in “Images”, as a guide for our discussion. This is not a close list, and there is no right or wrong answer. You are more than welcome to share your own thoughts and opinions.
  -Please, if you cannot make it, kindly update your RSVP, so we are not waiting for people who will not turn up.
  Please, if you have suggestions, kindly send them my way.
