Join us for an entertaining and thought-provoking evening, with Dr Carl Cleves, who will share his insights into the philosophy and the ethics of travel and nationality. What are our motives and responsibilities in a world where air travel is too cheap to ignore? How do we step out of the traveling frame, and what are we truly seeing?

Musicologist, author, songwriter and troubadour, Carl left his native Belgium with a law degree from the University of Leuven and a passion for music. He has worked as foreign correspondent, a relief worker in cyclone struck India, an actor in radio plays in Africa, an antelope trapper in Uganda and as an ethnomusicologist. Carl speaks five languages and holds degrees in Law, African Music and Contemporary Composition. He has written and recorded six solo albums and six award winning albums with The Hottentots.

In his memoir 'Tarab. Travels With My Guitar' Carl takes the reader on adventure-strewn journeys through Africa, Asia, the Pacific Region and South America.
