Indian Valley Open Space Preserve Fall Plant Walk
Thursday November 6, 2025, 10:30 am - 1:00 pm
Leaders: Stacey Pogorzelski and Julie Wittmann
Join us for an approximately 2-mile meander through oak woodlands and seasonal streams. We will encounter plants waiting for rain, or perhaps beginning their winter/spring growth. The area hosts valley oak, California black oak, coast live oak, Pacific madrone, California bay laurel, and California buckeye, understory shrubs, grasses, vines, geophytes, and annuals. The trail has some steeper sections, so bring hiking poles if you use them.
Directions: Meet at the west entrance to parking lot 5 (between Lot 5 and Lot 6) at the College of Marin Indian Valley Campus in Novato. You can park in Lot 5 for free, or buy a permit for the other lots. Accessible by Marin Transit #57.
We will follow the Pacheco Pond Fire Road and head towards Pacheco Pond. From Lot 6, facing the IVC Farm, we will walk to the left of the buildings. We will continue onto the Ken Harth Waterfall Trail, and return via the Indian Valley Fire Rd.
Limit of 15 attendees. Moderate/heavy rain cancels. (Leader will post a comment on Meetup if it is canceled.)
