Hi All,

Thanks for your interest in the Canberra Philosophical Fiction Book Club! With around 10 people expressing interest across Meetup and Facebook, I've locked in our first meeting for Saturday 27 June 2026 at 2:00pm at Civic Library, giving about a month to read our first book Solaris by Stanisław Lem. A brief, spoiler-free introduction to Solaris is below:

"Psychologist Kris Kelvin arrives at a remote research station orbiting the planet Solaris, where scientists have spent decades studying a vast and mysterious ocean that appears unlike anything humanity has ever encountered. Upon arrival, Kelvin quickly discovers that something is deeply wrong aboard the Station."

I've put together a Google Drive containing both an eBook and audiobook of Solaris, accessible here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/10vVgj7OfmGDCeHI1P1R7eSM8Kzk34MQy?usp=sharing

For anyone interested in exploring further, I've also included:

A Spotify playlist inspired by the novel:

Links to both film adaptations of Solaris:

Solaris (1972): https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0069293/

Solaris (2002): https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0307479/

One final note: there are several English translations of *Solaris*. The version I've provided is Bill Johnston's direct translation from Polish. Other editions may use slightly different character names and wording, but any translation is perfectly fine for the discussion.

Looking forward to discussing the book with you all!
