What we’re about
Join us for meditation sessions and public lectures on the gnostic teachings, a practical, spiritual and scientific methodology for transforming suffering and acquiring personal knowledge of the divine.
Gnosis is the universal wisdom at the heart of all great religions and mystical traditions, and has manifested through innumerable teachers and spiritual guides. At the Gnostic Academy of Chicago, we study the nature of the complete human being through a variety of practices and subjects: gnosticism, meditation, consciousness, Buddhism, kabbalah, alchemy and tantra, yoga, self-transformation, alternative medicine, spiritual initiation, the tarot, astrology, dreams and astral projection, awakening, Kundalini and more.
Gnosis is a revolutionary mystical science aimed at the complete development of the human being. Gnosis is about acquiring direct experience of fundamental mystical truths, to know the mysteries of life and death for oneself, and goes far beyond intellectualism, speculations, beliefs or theories. What we seek to impart is the practical wisdom of how to change our life into something better, through the comprehensive didactic of self-knowledge, compassion and understanding.
These practical teachings are available to all people, regardless of language, culture, race or gender. We welcome people from all religions and denominations toward the study of actualizing our intimate potential.

Schedule:
1 - 1:50 pm: Lecture / Q&A
10 min. Break

Lecture Topic: Bodhichitta: Alchemical Medicine for the Soul
While a Mahayana text, The Way of the Bodhisattva encodes tantric teachings about harnessing the creative sexual energy. Literally the seminal force in Tibetan Buddhist tantric texts, bodhichitta is the power of awakening enlightened compassion through selfless love, especially within a perfect matrimony. In other words, bodhichitta is the power of ennobled or chaste sexuality, whereby dense desires are transformed into unlikely and impactful virtues: generosity, altruism, ethics, patience, diligence, concentration, meditative serenity, and wisdom, otherwise known as the paramitas or perfections of a genuine spiritual master. It is also the fuel by which real faith is generated—the direct spiritual experience of divine, ultimate reality—which inspires any initiate to serve and sacrifice for humanity.
Join us for an esoteric reading of this profound Tibetan Buddhist scripture, followed by gnostic commentary, Q&A, and meditation.

Lecture Topic: Awakening Bodhichitta through Intention and Practice
“People are weary of so many theories, now they want practical matters. They do not want more theories, or more intellectual vagueness, or more exploitation. So, let us come to practical facts. Let us come to the point.” —Samael Aun Weor, The Major Mysteries
Enacting enlightened, compassionate, or conscious love is different from intending it. While intention and action are different, they are both needed to awaken and develop bodhichitta. See how through an exploration of Tibetan Buddhist psychology and Gnostic exercises.

Lecture Topic: Inspiration and Aspiration through Divine Confessions
“When the mind has achieved absolute calm and silence, it can concentrate on the Inner Self. This concentration is done with the help of prayer. Pray to your Inner Self. Try to converse with your Inner Self. Remember that praying is conversing with God. You can pray without formulae; in other words, talk to God: tell him what your heart feels with infinite love.” —Samael Aun Weor, Introduction to Gnosis
While sincerity takes precedence over scripted prayer, many religious traditions like Tibetan Buddhism still preserve beautiful exemplars of how to pray to, provide offerings for, and develop a personal relationship with divinity. Although languages and forms differ, the principles of prayer are universal. Therefore, they are useful to study and practice no matter one’s faith, denomination, or creed. Discover how Shantideva’s confessional prayers convey the upright attitude and longings of any initiate who aspires to the heights, as well as what any spiritual student must do to cultivate bodhichitta.
