Let's do a fun hike on the Hickory Hammock trail. We will be hiking for about 4.5-Miles to the main campground, where we will take a break to cool down and have a snack. After the break, we will hike back to our cars for a total of 9 miles. This is a linear hike (not a loop). Most of the trail is under shade with beautiful oaks and pine.

Let's meet at 8:15 AM at the Trailhead off US-98. We will start hiking no later than 8:30 AM. Please use the GPS coordinates (Trailhead 27.4024300, -81.1686900) to find the trailhead, you can miss the entrance very easily.

NOTE: We start on time, so please don't be late or you will be hiking by yourself!

We will be hiking at a moderately fast pace, and will be taking breaks along the way as needed. There are no restroom facilities at the trailhead, but the campground has some toilets.

Make sure you bring the following items or I may have to turn you away:
Water - 2-3 liters
Walking stick (to aid in getting around roots, hog damage and uneven terrain)
Hat
Snacks
Bug spray
Sunscreen

Public/Moderately fast
Contact: Amy Saperstein (561) 289-5551

How to find us:
Just off of US-98 between Lorida and Ft. Basinger (Trailhead 27.4024300, -81.1686900)

To camp at Hickory Hammock the night before (or after) (or whenever), contact South Florida Water Management; they must be notified if you intend to camp there. IF you camp the night before, be sure to meet us at the trail head at 8:15 for the 8:30 hike.
