FREE HIKE - Surrey Three Peaks Challenge ! Challenging hike- Fast to medium pace
Details
This is going to be approx.,37 km (estimation only) challenging walk that makes up the Surrey Three Peaks Challenge. Approx., 1400 m total elevation gain. There are going to be incredible views from Holmbury Hill, Leith Hill, and Box Hill, this test of endurance will reward you with the very best of what Surrey has to offer. This is also a great hike for those preparing for Three peaks challenge or other intensive hikes or if you just want a challenge or looking for a bootcamp. Start and finish outside Dorking Station.
Dorking Deepdene station is not very far and Box Hill & Westhumble Station takes 20 mins walk or a bus / taxi connection which will just take 5 mins.
We will be meeting at 8:30 am outside Dorking train station. I would suggest taking the public transport however, if you are driving - You can park at the station car park and meet outside the station
During the hike, we will be covering Denbies, Box Hill, Leith Hill and Holmbury Hill (in no particular order). The route may change time to time. It is going to be a long, hard, and tiring hike. Please do not join this hike if you have any medical conditions or injuries or check with me beforehand. Please be cooperative and listen to the hike leader at all times.
There will be regular short breaks during the hike so don’t worry. It will be at a fast to medium pace and if you usually walk slow then this won’t suit you as you will be left behind. I aim to finish in the daylight (however, this may depend on the group's overall dynamics) and we can go to a pub when we finish. Please make sure to wear hiking boots/shoes and carry at least 2 liter of water if possible (refill at every given opportunity) and packed lunch and a torch. We may be able to refill water and buy sandwiches on the way. The walk is completely free.
Remember the following:
- Don’t be late and reach on time.
- Bring lunch and snacks.
- Be weather prepared i.e. cap / hat or rainproof etc.
- Be nice to each other.
- Listen to the event host at all times.
- Attend the social event at the pub, close to the station, after the hike and enjoy the group achievement.
- Please read the about us section of the group before signing up for any events. https://www.meetup.com/free-hiking-outdoor-fitness-and-social-activities
- The participants are expected to stay with or behind the hike / walk leader and not go ahead of him as this is important to maintain the pace of the group and keep the group together and to allow people behind to catch up.
- This is not for the faint-hearted, as I can be quite demanding during this kind of long, challenging hikes. It may be hot and exhausting and I am not here to make it any easier for you. Only join if you have the patience, perseverance, and discipline to handle it.
You are responsible for your own safety and for making sure that your actions don’t damage the people, animals, or environment around you. This is wholly a voluntary activity. No service/risk is inferred or accepted.
Those who are continuously ‘No show’ for 2 or more times and have never been to my walks / hikes before will be removed from the group.
Please be respectful to fellow walkers.
We will get our well-deserved pint and maybe dinner at a pub at the end.
As always, I try to keep my events a good mix of hard work and fun so let's enjoy this achievement.
