What we’re about

As a French native, I have unfinished business with the classics I studied at school, so every now and then I revisit some—my own version of "searching for lost time". The idea of this group is to connect with any potential fellow enthusiasts.

What we do:

In practical terms, we'll meet at the library/online and take turns reading selected works, and work through study aids.

Audience:

This meetup is intended for those with French proficiency and a genuine interest in the subject, for example, if they (have) pursue(d) a French minor/major in college. If you'd like French exposure but don’t yet have proficiency, you're welcomed to join as a listener.

Booking:

There's a deliberation phase (RSVPs closed), followed by a commitment period (RSVPs open) that ends a day prior to the scheduled meetup, so I know what to expect on J-1.

Other:

The meetup features a live English translation challenge: can those flamboyant linguists one meets around campus really hold their own?

The evolving syllabus can be found at the link under "Find us also at".

The name is a playful reference to an obscure notion of erudite shepherds I stumbled upon in a 1967 video archive.

This is a non-profit, unaffiliated, grassroots Francophonie initiative.
