Greenways Walk in Hazelwood - Snowshoes included!
Details
Celebrate Valentines Day with a little love for our city's forests! Join local activist and Hazelwood resident Matt Peters and Sierra Club leader Kara Kukovich for an educational outing in Pittsburgh. We will learn about the city's greenway system and their new greenways expansion program, which is at a critical stage where public involvement could mean a lot for protecting Pittsburgh forests. After a brief overview, we will walk along the Sylvan Avenue corridor and the surrounding neighborhoods to see firsthand the important existing and potential greenways. If weather is conducive, we will stop at a park along the way for hot chocolate and sweets.
The walk is about 1.5 miles and includes a couple steep hills and stairways, with some sections getting muddy after rain.
This is the same walk we did last November for the Greenways Walk & Potluck. Come again to see it in a different season and get an update on the greenways expansion program!

UPDATE: Due to the snow, we will be bringing snowshoes (courtesy of Venture Outdoors) for the corridor through the wooded area. No experience necessary! Feel free to bring your own snowshoes if you have them.
