Celebrate Black History Month with this classic movie starring Sidney Poitier, Claudia McNeil, and Ruby Dee!

Based on a play by Lorraine Hansberry, this drama follows the Youngers, an African-American family living together in an apartment in Chicago. Following the death of their patriarch, they try to determine what to do with the substantial insurance payment they'll soon receive. Opinions on what to do with the money vary. Walter Lee (Sidney Poitier) wants to make a business investment, while his mother, Lena (Claudia McNeil), is intent on buying a house for them all to live in -- two differing views of the American Dream. We highly recommend purchasing tickets in advance.

After the show, we'll meet in the lobby and head off for a bite to eat and discuss the film.

IMPORTANT NOTE: There will be a seminar for an added fee by Boston Globe film critic Odie Henderson at 1:15 before the movie, which starts at 2:00. I plan to attend the seminar, but it is optional.
