Day trip to Schnormeier Gardens, followed by a hike at Knox Woods State Nature Preserve.

Schnormeier Gardens are located in the gentle rolling hills of central Ohio. They began building the gardens in 1996. Over the years they have grown to include fifty acres of manicured lawns, ten lakes, a variety of discrete garden areas and several waterfalls.

The focal point of the property is a spectacular Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired home. This private residence was completed in 1994. Other structures on the property include a Japanese teahouse, garden house, Chinese pavilion and arched bridge. An ever growing collection of unique sculptures are also located on the grounds.

The admission to the Gardens is 50 dollars per car load and only happens on the weekends this June. We will need car drivers for this and I would guess that each vehicle can carry 5 people or 10 dollars per person. Sorry, no refunds. We will meet at Knox Woods State nature preserve parking area and carpool approximately 10 minutes to the gardens.

We will then return to the park and Jenny will lead us on a 3 mile or so hike through Knox Woods.

We are guessing the gardens will take 2-3 hours, return to the park and then a short snack/lunch break at the park and then have our hike.

This will be the first time I've required payment for an event. I've already went ahead and purchased 1 ticket for the event. As the event fills, I will purchase more tickets as long as they are available. I set a 1 week time frame for people to sign up so I can make sure we can get tickets.

Dinner at a local establishments if anyone else would like to come.

Hey all, Tony let me take advantage of his group a bit here, and I have not planned a meet up ever, but thought I would share an opportunity. I was supposed to go camping with a group of people at Lake Hope State Park. I have two campsites with electric, and near bathrooms paid for. One person is still coming with me, but others are flaking.

Lake Hope is in the Zaleski State Forest, and about 30 min from Hocking Hills, also the Moonville Tunnel, and Hope Furnace. I thought I would see if we had some people interested in going down that way. I don't have any exact trails or agenda planned, but if we have interest I am sure we can figure it all out together. I am Tent Camping. Can have two tents (or camper and tent) and upto 6 adults per site.

All I ask is if I suck at planning. Don't take it out on Tony, and hate me for it! lol I just wanna get people together and have a nice weekend and good time. I don't care much about collecting money for the sites. People can help if they want. We can all pitch in on food, and just keep it easy.

I have two sites if you want to stay there, or if you want to get your own spot near there let me know and I will let you know what sites I have.

Back to nature hiking weekend. I have reserved a 1912 Hunting lodge for us at the Arc of Appalachia for a weekend of fall leaf viewing. Sleeping accommodations will be 5 bedrooms with 2 single beds in each room and a sink. 2 stall community shower and toilet.

The weekend will be busy with hiking plans for both Saturday and Sunday. The days will be full from sun up to late in the afternoon with time for group dinners and relaxing on the screened in porch. As always, do what you want. If you want to hike only the first hike and then chill on the porch the rest of the day, go for it. Hikes will be in Highland and Adams County, Ohio. We will be hiking from Bainbridge, Ohio South to the Ohio River.

Some of these locations will be permit only that I will pull ahead of time. These are single file trail hikes, with no off trail, no rock climbing, no nature picking. If you just can't resist climbing on the rocks or picking the flowers, then this isn't the trip for you. What will you see, you will see rock outcroppings, caves, bluffs, overhangs, historic buildings, waterfalls and hopefully lots of wildlife.

First 9 people to sign up and pay will be in the cabin with me. I will be sending out my info for payment by venmo or zelle within a couple days and need payment right away. Price will be 125 per person to cover the lodge. This is non refundable.

Detailed itinerary will be provided later but I needed to reserve the cabin which is why this is so early.
