A bucket list volcanic hike and the highest peak in Henderson, "Black Mountain" (5,093’) was chosen by our members this week.
- Mile 1 is an easy walk on a paved Anthem neighborhood pathway.
- Mile 2 starts the steady hike into the volcanonic hills.
- Mile 3 gains in elevation progressively, with switchbacks up to the first lookout (stunning views of the Strip).
- Mile 4 is a steep ascent to the peak, with some light scrambling (expect to take a few breaks and stay hydrated)! View the entire valley from up here. Sign your name in the hiking ledger!
- Mile 5 begins the descent with light scrambling and enjoyable switchbacks with views.
- Mile 6 is a flat walk through a gravelly, yet beautiful wash with desert blossoms.
- Mile 7 closes the loop with a progressive descent back to the parking lot on the paved path.
