Heterodox social

This is a group for people who identify as heterodox (or have a lot of heterodox views) and are committed to respectful conversation. Perplexity defines "heterodox" as "holding beliefs, opinions, or practices that differ from or go against accepted or established standards." A heterodox voter tends to have an "overall framework that cuts across standard left-right categories, challenging assumptions that most people in their political camp take for granted." We will not specifically be focusing on religion or politics in our discussions, but we aim to create an environment where people can express heterodox ideas about a range of intellectual topics, including religion, politics, culture, philosophy, science, and life in NYC. The emphasis is on curiosity, respect, and intellectual diversity, not debate or persuasion.
