This event in the grand and historic Portico Library is the latest instalment in Dr Andy Mycock’s irreverent, and unapologetically playful performance series following his sell-out comedy shows I am Mycock and the Joy of Mycock. This new show dives into the recurrence and remarkable flexibility of “the cock” across English literature - from medieval metaphor to modern innuendo.

With readings of selected texts by the Portico Library’s Creative Producer, Dr Debbie Challis, and invited guests, he will unpack how “the cock” resonates through centuries of writing with comic, poetic, and cultural weight. With wit, warmth, and a scholar’s eye for mischief, The Prose of Mycock invites the audience to reconsider the literary canon one phallic syllable at a time.

This show will raise funds for Portico Reunited, a once-in-a-lifetime project which will reunite all three floors of the library.

Check-in is at 6:30pm and the event starts at 7pm. It is a good opportunity to have a look around this beautiful and historic library.

The show is £11.55 per person. Please book before you RSVP, here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/the-prose-of-mycock-tickets-1976025861545?aff=oddtdtcreator . If you tickets are sold out please let me know and I'll close RSVPs. If you haven't paid for the History Get Together Group annual membership, please also pay me a couple of quid to attend this event so I can afford to keep running it. Cheers!
