What we’re about
Established in Rochester NY in 1969, the parent organization Huggers Ski Club has evolved from a ski club to a multi-recreational and social club.
This MeetUp group is a way to reach out to invite new people, singles and couples, age 21 and over, to join in our activities.
Come join us for downhill and cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, bicycling, kayaking, canoeing, camping, picnics, casual and formal dinners, happy-hours, euchre parties and more. During ski season, we also have group downhill and cross-country trips.
Outdoor events and happy hours are always free and open to the public, so come "try us out!" For events where Huggers Ski Club rents a venue and provides free or subsidized beverages and food, non-members or HSC MeetUp members will need to pay $10 over what a Huggers Ski Club member pays. This will be noted in MeetUp.
To become a Huggers Ski Club member, annual dues are $30.00 for the first fiscal (June to May) year then $20.00 per year after that. To join Huggers Ski Club, follow this link: Join the Club! >>Huggers Ski Club.
If you choose to join the Club at an event, your attendance fee will be adjusted accordingly.
There also may be Club events that are not posted in Meetup. Please go to our website at: https://www.huggersskiclub.org for a full description of Huggers Ski Club, along with a calendar of events including those that may not be posted in Meetup.
"HSC MeetUp Group" has a strict ZERO TOLERANCE policy regarding anonymity. To be accepted as a member of this group you must post with, and always maintain on your profile, a photograph with sufficient clarity of your face to be able to identify you. If you do not meet this condition, your HSC MeetUp group membership may be declined or revoked. Thank you for your understanding and compliance. This site may NOT be used to promote the sale of ANY goods or services of ANY KIND whatsoever, nor for discussions of any topics not related to a specific recreational event listed, by any member or affiliate. See all- This weeks Thurs 11 AM Ride - 9/11 Memorial Ride starting at Hamlin Beach SPNeeds location
This Hamlin Beach ride is replacing my usual Irondequoit AM Ride. 11:00 Start to allow warmer temps at the start this time of year. This is a day to remember and reflect on all of those who were lost on that day as well as those who suffered and passed later as a result of those attacks. We will have a minute of silence before the start of this 9/11 Memorial Ride.
Folk's, this week's Thu. 11:00 AM 9/11 Memorial Ride, will be the same Hamlin Beach Picnic ride we did back in July. So, if you didn't make it the first time, this will be your last chance for this year. Thursday the 11th @ 11:00 AM. Parking location will be lot #4 @ Hamlin Beach State Park.
Predicted temps in the 70's and Sunnyside. Plan on a beach day or just a picnic near the lake following the ride. Multiple ride length options in "mapmyride" map links below for 13-27 mile ride options.
As always, please plan to be there at least 15-20 min in advance of 11:00 am start time.
Please note, the Hamlin Beach Park police are often looking for people going over the park's posted speed limit. So if you don't want any surprise speeding tickets, please watch your speed in the park!
If you're 62 and over park entrance during weekdays is free. Just show your driver's license. Tickets for speeding are not free! Thanks, and don't forget to pack your own lunch, tasty beverage and snacks. We look forward to seeing you at Hamlin Beach this Thursday. Feel free to wear a patriotic colored and or themed jersey if you have one.
Here are the digital map links for both rides on "Mapmyride": Also attached, are the gpx files for those who can or prefer to use them. I plan to ride the 27 mile out and back so if you want to do the shorter ride, you may be alone on your return or others who don't want to do the longer ride. These are both relatively flat rides.
