Catskill 3500's - Blackhead, Black Dome, & Thomas Cole - 8 miles - great views

** You must have prior experience hiking similar Catskill peaks in icy winter conditions.

The hike:
We'll start hiking at 9am. Pace will be moderate/brisk. You must be able to navigate and hike on your own if you choose to hike at a faster or slower pace than other members.
The route:
- From the trailhead at the end of Big Hollow Road, we'll take the Red Trail a short distance to the Yellow Trail.
- Turn left onto Yellow.
- Turn right onto blue and head up to summit of Blackhead.
- At summit, turn right onto yellow and head to red trail.
- Take red uphill to summit of Black Dome.
- Continue to summit of Thomas Cole.
- Double back on red to parking lot.

Difficulty: two moderately steep uphills; it will be very icy in spots.
Pace: moderate/brisk -average 2.2-2.4 mph
Total distance: Approx 8 miles.
Elevation Gain: ~2800 ft.
Gear: trail crampons or similar multipoint traction with sharp teeth; snowshoes; clothing for winter conditions; water; snacks/lunch; headlamp

NOTE: You are responsible for bringing appropriate gear, supplies, clothing, first aid, and lights.
