Minnewaska- 5.8 mi loop -Views - Waterfalls!! - Rough Cut Brewery after

** Rough Cut Brewing is on Rt. 44/55 about 6 mintes west of the park entrance.

The Hike - We will start hiking at 9:30 from the Lower Awosting parking lot so please arrive earlier. (The lot 700 is feet straight ahead of the entrance booth paystation.). We will have nice views along the High Peter's Kill Trail, from Compass Rock and from spots in the Peter's Kill Gorge before we see the 80' Awosting Falls near the end of the hike.
The route:
- From the north end of parking lot, cross Rt. 44/55 by trail marker.
- Bear to the right onto the blue SRT trail.
- Follow SRT 2.1 miles atop Peter's Kill gorge and cross stream via footbridge.
- Continue uphill on blue to Compass Rock for a short break and nice views.
- Continue to the white Bull Wheel Trail. Turn right and continue to red.
- Turn right onto red trail and head down to stream.
- Follow red trail upstream and then uphill to the Peter's Kill lot.
- We will cross Rt. 44/55 to white trail and to the carriage road.
- Turn right onto carriage road and continue past Awosting Falls.
- After the falls, continue back to parking lot.

Distance: approx. 5.8 miles
Elevation gain: Approx. 900 feet
Difficulty: Possible ice/snow; moderate pace; short uphills. .
Gear: foot traction; Appropriate footwear; poles may be helpful for some people; water; snacks
