About Zain Hasan
Zain Hasan is an accomplished professional with experience spanning academia, startups, and the tech industry. Trained as an engineer and data scientist, he completed his undergraduate and graduate work at the University of Toronto, focusing on AI-powered technologies. He began his career by founding a digital health startup that used machine learning to monitor chronically ill patients. He later worked as a Senior Data Scientist and AI/ML Engineer in both consulting and product-focused roles, including at Weaviate, a leading vector database company, and Together AI, a generative AI cloud provider. A passionate advocate for open-source software, education, and community, Zain has taught at the University of Toronto and delivered technical talks at conferences across North America and Europe. His work centers on bridging the gap between cutting-edge research and real-world deployment of AI systems.
