The Junior Developer meetup is back for 2022!

Our first meetup of the year (thanks Covid) will be held at the Belgian Beer Cafe again with talks from 2 amazing local Adelaide speakers, Matt Shepherd @ Octopus Deploy and Sahan Serasinghe @ Github.

Matt Shepherd - Engineering Manager @ Octopus Deploy

In this talk, Matt will cover how to identify and lay the foundations to hit your career goals. He'll discuss the approaches he uses to help developers shape their careers through self-directed learning, as well as techniques to maximise your opportunities for professional development.

About Matt
Matt Shepherd is an Engineering Manager at Octopus Deploy, having previously worked as a full-stack software engineer at The Football Association and other UK companies before moving to Adelaide in 2018. Matt is passionate about coaching and mentoring developers of all levels and helping them achieve their career goals.

Sahan Serasinghe - Software Engineer @ GitHub
In this talk Sahan will walk you through to how to find motivation, dealing with imposter syndrome, how to stay productive in a rapidly changing landscape, learning from mistakes and many more tips to help you excel in your career. He will also bust some common myths about being a developer while drawing examples from his journey.

Sahan currently works as a Software Engineer at GitHub. He’s been working in the industry as a software developer and a consultant for almost a decade now in various disciplines. During his free time, he runs his blog at sahansera.dev where he shares his learnings and tutorials to help developers around the world.
