Proving what you know, trying to be certain, deferring to an authority, looking for ultimate justifications - sound familiar? These, and similar long-standing errors, are all the wrong way to approach knowledge (and life) according to Popper - there is a better way, and far more liberating. A discussion on Popper's theory of knowledge growth, based on a summary of the Introduction to Popper's book 'Conjectures and Refutations' - a chapter he described as best outlining his views on this topic. As always, some material will be provided to stimulate discussion. And as per each Meetup, will head to the Civic Central Social / Labor Club after the meet for a coffee/drink and continued discussion. Cheers, Todd
PS - the Multicultural Festival is on in Civic this Sat, so the best place to park this time of year if driving, has traditionally been the Canberra Centre shopping complex's multi-story carpark
