Cinema - Father Mother Sister Brother
Details
I've not scheduled a Meetup film at the Phoenix these last few weeks, but this one caught my attention for Sunday 12th April at lunchtime
This award winning film explores themes of distance, memory and small lies between adult children and their parents. It sounds like an interesting film to watch, and plenty to discuss no doubt.
Meet in the cafe area between 12:00 and 12:15 for a chat before the film and we can have a chat after the film as well (optional)
Synopsis:
Jim Jarmusch (Paterson, Only Lovers Left Alive) returns with a comedic triptych on family estrangement which picked up Best Film at the Venice Film Festival.
With an incredible cast (see below) and wry observational wit, Jarmusch paints three Carveresque portraits of families from around the world:
a widowed father (Waits) and his children confront money-troubles in wintry Pennsylvania;
a famous writer (Charlotte Rampling) struggles to connect with her daughters over tea in Dublin;
and a brother and sister uncover family secrets in Paris.
Honest, humane and charming cinema from a modern master.
Director: Jim Jarmusch
Cast: Adam Driver, Cate Blanchett, Tom Waits, Charlotte Rampling
Duration: 110 minutes
