Overview

Immerse yourself in a world-class jazz piano trio playing bop, stride, swing and blues, delivering an intimate, high-level set for serious jazz fans.

Details

Direct from New York City, internationally acclaimed pianist Larry Fuller brings his background in bop, stride, swing, blues, and more to the piano store for a return engagement. For this show, he will once again be accompanied by Lorin Cohen on bass and Carmen Intorre, Jr., on drums. This trio got rave reviews from Meetup members who attended two of the same band's prior shows at the same venue!

EVENT COST: $30 at the door if tickets are still available then -- OR $27.50 in advance online. (NOTE: ticket sales at the door might be cash only.)

Also, consider donating $1.00 to defray the hefty fees that Meetup charges me for being head organizer of the Live Jazz (& Blues) Group.

SEATING: Seating is general admission. Buy your own tickets.

NOTE that this is an early show!

WHEN/WHERE TO MEET: Meet inside the seating area shortly after 4:30 p.m., when the doors open -- ideally, in the left-hand seating section for a better view of the piano. (The show starts at 5:00 p.m.; Piedmont Piano shows typically consist of one 90-minute set with no intermission.)

OPTIONAL POST-SHOW DINNER: When you RSVP, indicate if you want to join me for dinner (space allowing) at a Japanese restaurant on Telegraph, about a block from the piano store. Dinner limited to six people to facilitate getting a table. (I'll gladly accommodate additional people for the concert by itself.)

HOW TO FIND ME: I'm WF, 5 feet tall, with glasses, and short salt and pepper hair (see my photo with my Meetup profile). I'll email RSVPers my phone number prior to the event.

TRANSIT/PARKING: The piano store is a short walk from the 19th Street and 12th Street Oakland BART stations. (The closest BART exit is the one near 17th and Telegraph, accessible from the 19th Street BART stop.) There are at least two paid parking lots in the area, and there is often free street parking unless there are shows at the three large concert halls in the neighborhood.

Thanks to Meetup member Monica for spotting this show on Piedmont Piano's concert calendar and alerting me to it !
