"The Process of Design" with Teresa Watts

What is design and how does it fit into digital projects?

Designers need to work with clients, strategists, marketers, copywriters and developers to not only meet the objectives of the project but also to create a great experience for the end user.

Teresa will explore these questions and more as she take us through the creative process of a real project right from the rough scribbles through to the finishing touches, showing that design is more than just pretty pixels.

Teresa is a self-taught digital designer and front-end developer based in Perth. She's a Senior Designer at Bam Creative (https://www.bam.com.au), a keen blogger and the talent doesn't stop there - she also runs lettering workshops which you can find out more about via her website (http://www.teresawatts.com/).

Teresa likes to draw inspiration from non-digital hobbies like brush lettering and making magazines.

About the AWIA monthly meetups

Port80 is a monthly meetup for web professionals including designers, developers, sys admins, marketers, digital strategists, students... and pretty much anyone who's involved in the web.

Our monthly meetings start with casual drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and pizza (or something else). We simply ask for a small donation to cover the drinks and food if you partake.

We then have one or more presentations on a variety of topics which usually end with lots of questions and discussions... and more drinks.
