Having completed Machiavelli's Prince, we now turn to the one of the most interesting of Machiavelli's creative works, Mandragola (or The Mandrake.)

Machiavelli should not be read exclusively through his theoretical works, but in light of the many genres and forms he used throughout his career. His comedy Mandragola is both a hilarious fiction in itself, and also one of the first comedies written in the Renaissance. Such figures as Ben Jonson wrote works in response to Machiavelli in the Mandragola.
