This focused 3-hour immersion offers a clear and embodied introduction to the foundations of Chen-style Tai Chi. Through standing practice, silk-reeling exercises, and guided exploration of the 18 Essence Form, participants will develop a strong base for both personal practice and continued study.

### What we’ll explore

  • Core Tai Chi principles and foundational concepts
  • Intro to standing practice for alignment, relaxation, and stability
  • Intro to Silk-reeling exercises to cultivate whole-body connection
  • Strong focus on introduction to the Chen 18 Essence Form
  • How slow movement, balance, and alignment work together to produce health.
  • If we have time we will introduce some partner exercises as well.

This workshop is designed to bring new and returning students up to speed with the regular weekly classes, creating a shared vocabulary and embodied understanding that supports long-term practice.
No prior experience is required—just curiosity and a willingness to move slowly and attentively.
