
What we’re about
MAKE Roanoke is a non-profit makerspace in Roanoke, VA. MAKE Roanoke is entirely led and run by volunteers. We are located at 128 Albemarle Ave SE, B, Roanoke VA 24013. We don't have standard open hours, but instead give our membership key fobs to access the space whenever suits them.
Mission Statement
MAKE Roanoke exists to promote knowledge, skill, and creativity in science, technology, crafts, and the arts. We strive to foster these values in an inclusive and safe environment. To these ends, MAKE Roanoke shall provide the following:
- An inclusive and collegial social framework for members to inspire and collaborate with others of similar interests;
- A maintained communal space providing safe access to tools and supplies for projects; and
- Events to promote education and collaboration between members and the greater Roanoke community.

General Orientations for New and Prospective Members
MAKE Roanoke, 128 Albemarle Ave SE, Roanoke, VA, USNew Members of MAKE Roanoke are required to attend a General Orientation. RSVP below to save your slot. Orientation will start promptly at 8PM
Memberships will cost $50/mo and get you access to the space via a keyfob for all the equipment that you're trained on. Find out more about MAKE Roanoke Membership here

The Orientations will consist of a tour showcasing what MAKE Roanoke has to offer, a video explaining our rules and procedures, a briefer tour highlighting safety equipment, and then time for Q&A and signing up for memberships.
Please note that additional shop-level orientations and tool-level training are required to use most tools.
You do not have to sign up for a membership, if you want to just take the tour and/or orientation to learn more, that's very welcome!
Please note that MAKE Roanoke is an active workshop:
- All participants must have a signed waiver on file. If the participant is a minor, the waiver must be signed by a parent or court-appointed legal guardian.
- Children who are not participating in the event are not permitted in the space.
- Closed toed shoes are required in the space at all times by everyone, regardless of age or participation in an event. No sandals, crocs, or bare feet.
- You may be asked to remove or tuck in dangling jewelry, lanyards, etc for safety.
- Depending on the activity, other dress code rules may apply.

MAKE Roanoke, 128 Albemarle Ave SE, Roanoke, VA, USMAKE Roanoke is pleased to offer another session in our series of FREE short classes we're calling Maker Minis! This one is a Leather Carving class.
This class, taught by Sarah Starkey, will teach you different ways to create patterns and textures on leather and more. This class is recommended for people ages 12 and up. Attendees under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
In this mini class you will learn:
- How to work the surface of raw leather with a cutter, mallet, and stamps to create patterns & textures
- How to punch holes and hand stitch the edges or use rivets to make a keychain, luggage tag, bookmark, or card holder
- About various dyes and oils to achieve your desired finish
This class is suitable for people with beginner to intermediate leather working experience.
Seating is limited, so please RSVP to save your spot!

From coloring to making hats to restoring machinery, this is a social night of crafting of all kinds for makers of all kinds!
Bring some dough to chip in for dinner if you want some!
This event runs from 4-8pm and is for MAKE Roanoke members and guests.
