1940s: Seventeen-year-old Victoria Nash runs the house on her family's peach farm in Colorado. Wilson Moon is a young drifter, displaced from his tribal land and determined to live as he chooses. Victoria encounters Wilson by chance, a meeting that profoundly alters both of their young lives. When tragedy strikes, Victoria flees into the surrounding mountains. In June the Hiawassee Book Club will discuss Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus.

Elizabeth's singular approach to cooking ('take one pint of H2O and add a pinch of sodium chloride') and independent example as a single, unwed mother, are proving revolutionary. Because Elizabeth isn't just teaching women how to cook, she's teaching them how to change the status quo.
