THIS IS HIKE IS INTENDED FOR SEASONED HIKERS ONLY. NOT A BEGINNER HIKE. If you’re ready to test yourself mentally and physically then this hike is for you. We will begin at La Cueva trailhead at the Organ Mountains at 8 am. We will proceed with taking the trail that will take you up to Organ Peak. The first 3 miles will be on trail. Once we reach the narrows we will break for a few minutes. From the 3rd mile to the 6th mile it will be completely off trail until we reach the peak. We will be hiking up a grade incline of 21-80 percent. It will be very tough. There will be bushwhacking, minor bouldering, and scrambling involved. It it’s HIGHLY recommended you wear pants for this outing! Hiking poles are also encouraged! Bring 3 liters of water minimum!!!
No dogs allowed on this outing. It is not a dog friendly.
There is a $5 day pass fee to be paid at the kiosk near the trailhead. The America The Beautiful National Park pass is honored here to avoid paying the $5 day pass
We will meet at the Kohl’s/Starbucks off Red Road on the west side at 6:30 a.m. and leave sharply at 6:45 a.m. Please arrive with a full tank of gas. If you are from Las Cruces, we can meet at the circle k off University Ave and Don Roser ( located off I-25) at 7:15 am and leave sharply at 7:30 am to La Cueva trail head. The one where you begin to do the needle trail and organ peak.
Participants should be in good physical condition to attend this outing. Folks with an underlying medical condition should avoid moderate and strenuous outings. Participants who RSVP yes also agree to the Release of Liability statement located under the "What we're about" heading.
For safety reasons we hike together and support each-other as a group/team, with the leader in control. We stop, rest, eat, etc. together. No one will be allowed to hike ahead at any time. If you are unwilling to comply with this please do not sign up.
