Western Sydney Local LLM Club
Details
Local LLM Club brings together developers, researchers, and people building with language models on their own hardware.
Join us in Blacktown, Sydney, to share cutting-edge releases and techniques in local AI, then put them to work. Expect demonstrations of new models, discussions about inference performance, and practical experiments with tools and applications.
Topics will include:
- New open-weight models and what they can do on different hardware.
- Inference engines, quantisation, and the trade-offs between speed, memory, and quality.
- Local coding assistants, agents, and document search.
- Multimodal models working with text, images, and audio.
- Evaluation methods, privacy considerations, and lessons from real projects.
Bring a project, a technical question, or a recent discovery worth sharing. Work in progress is welcome, especially when it reveals an interesting problem or a useful result.
Each session combines a briefing on recent developments, a technical demo, and time to build and exchange ideas. We will compare approaches and discuss where the tools still fall short.
Some programming experience will help with the practical sessions. People getting started with local models are welcome to join the demonstrations and discussions.
Bring a laptop and charger for hands-on work. Any session-specific setup will be included in the event listing.
Hosted by Melbourne Code Connect, part of XZQT.IT.
Location: WOTSO Blacktown, Tenancy 4023, Westpoint, 17 Patrick Street, Blacktown NSW 2148.
